Red STS Review of ICE Paste Polish and Meguiars Gold Class

I pulled the cover over my car at noon, and went to work. First came the ICE TechPolish, put on all surfaces, wheels, plastic, windows, etc and let to dry for 30 minutes. It was a pain in the ass to get off. Heres what it looks like with the ICE Polish Applied.

Next came to wipe it off with a microfiber. It took forever, but as you can see the paint and clear look AMAZING. Keep in mind there is NO WAX on the car yet. This is just the polish with clear and paint.

The next step was to apply the Meguiars Gold Class. I used the included applicator, and did everything BUT the black plastic. I made sure there was a visible layer on the car:

Here is the final product. As you can see, the paint is amazingly reflective. The color is much deeper, and truly vibrant. My roommates couldn't believe how much better the car looked after the clay bars/polish/wax. It is better than the show room floor.

Overall, I give all the products used a giant TWO THUMBS UP. It truly changed the appearance of my car.

I too use the Gold Class wax it is amazing for a nice solid finish on the cadillac. i went through at least 8 waxes before i came across this one. it might be 20$ but it is worht every pennie! dont go for the cheap stuff..... Ehhh did u buff this out or hand polish it?

Everything was done by hand. It took two full 8 hour days for the complete process. But totally worth it I think.

The clay bar kits are a great thing. It can totally transform the look of the paint regardless of your choice of polish/wax. I've suggested them to several people who, after recovering from all the hard work, are amazed at how much it improves the look and feel of the paint.

Love the color. Needs some real portraits now.

1. The 17" wheels defy the massive appearance of this whip. Get some 18" or better.

2. That FORD front plate really sets off this machine. WHOO WHOO.

3. What about the inside, the engine, the glass? By the way, I never heard of waxing the windshield.

I agree with 1 and 2, however, even ZAINO recommends applying their polish to the winshield because:

a) It sheds water better, kinda acts like RAIN-X

b) Makes it hard for bugs to stick and easier to clean off

c) Adds ZAINOS (don't know about other waxes) 40 UV rejection to the glass and thus help protect the interior from UV damage.

I have an 05 STS - same color and tint shade as yours...
First thing I did too when I bought it was to clay bar it and wax .
these cars to clean up very nicely.

I still have the stock 17 inch wheels, and while I don't like them - I cannot find any 18 inch wheels that I think look classy, yet still sporty/show off (know what I mean)...I'm 41, and dont wan't to look like I'm an 17 yr old cruising the strip. Any suggestions ? pics ?

I agree, putting rims on this car is difficult. I'd keep them stock or try to find some 18" take offs. Have you looked at all for a rear spoiler? That would really set that car off.

perhaps -but I have to think getting a set of stock 18 inch wheels would be more expensive than going aftermarket. I'll have to keep my eye open.

To the submitter of this thread though, you *really* need need to get a random orbital polisher (like a porter cable 7424). it will cut your two day project down by more than a half. Plus, it will give you a shine you'll never be able to get with microfiber cloths and elbow grease
