The STS-V has the F1 all-season. They're WORLDS better than the stock Pirelli Eufori@. I'm sure the regular STS probably comes with better tires than those Pirellis too.. |

Too soon to tell but I'm hoping to be as happy as you seem to be. I have an '06 STS rear drive with the staggered 235/50/17 and 255/45/17. It's a directional tire and good looking/aggressive tread pattern. |

It will effect the traction control. I just ask him to rotate the tires not knowing that they are different sizes. He told me no matter what people tell you stay with the factory design. |

| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic Cadillac(s): '05 STS4 | | | | | Re: STS4 05 Tires 1sg As I understand it, even though the tire sizes Are different, what's important is that the circumference (as it's the distance the car travels in 1 rotation) be the same front & rear.
Remember the "45 series" is the aspect ratio so as it goes down the actual size can be increased and the circumference can remain the same.
That being said.... I kinda agree with Cadillac Service, why change THEIR plan? What ever the reason for their design, when it comes time for tires for me, I'll replace what they did. |

Absolutely love the tires, completely different car in the rain - rear wheel drive only - and stops better than anything else I've owned.
Wearing evenly to date, with amazingly little wear!
Unbelievably better tire than original.

It rained for about a week straight and I put my STS through some heavy wet weather manuvers and the tires faired quite well. For the $411 I paid for them I'm really amazed. I really think these tires are sleepers if you know what I mean. |

I know that mine are staggered with the 1SG which included the 18" wheels. The 17" wheels are on all others (except the V) and they came with like tires at all four corners. |

| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic Cadillac(s): 2006 sts | | | | | Re: STS4 05 Tires 1sg I just installed a set of Kumho Ecsta ASX staggered tires and they are mucho better than the OEM michelins, but thats not saying much since the originals were pretty ratty. So far ride and noise are excellent except for curves such as exit ramps--perhaps the nubs will wear off. It doesn't snow here, and only occasional rain, so school is out. |

The P235 has a diameter of 27.25" while the P255 hasa diameter of 27.03"
Why not use the P235 all the way around??? There would be 6 Rev/mi less and the taller tire in the back should produce slightly better gas mileage??
Or will there be problems that only the GM designers know about!!!???
I would like someone's opinion on my thinking..........good or bad.
Thanks,
Tom |

Stayed with the stock, varying tire size. Expensive as hell (over $1200) but all of a sudden this 1SG rides like a Cadillac should. Smoother, softer, quieter. Too soon to tell how they will last, but they cam with a 50K treadwear warranty, whatever thats worth...nice tires. Strongly recommend for all you guys complaining about ride quality on the 1SG with MRC. |

We see a fair amount of snow (generally less than 10 events) but the AWD mitigates much of that. Now my decision hinges on how far into an All-Season tread-pattern do I want to go? The tire shoulder is a typical engineering trade-off between road noise and adverse weather traction.
My wife's RWD is getting its Blizzak's back next week. Her OEM Michelin Energy LX4 P235-50R17 (ala Hertz RPO code) will be gone. They were not up to the car's performance, anyway. In Spring she'll get Summer tires, P255-45R17 perhaps? They would make her speed read 0.84% too fast. A perfect match for her lead foot (said affectionately, of course)! | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
