Traction Control Active While Turning

Remove this ad
Hi, My car is a sts 4...tires are staggered....while making a turn..usually not very fast the traction control likes to kick on....does anybody else have this problem?....I read a review of this car (cant remember where) and they were having the same issue........is there a fix or is it because of the awd and the staggered tires/... Thanks

Re: Traction Control Active While Turning

How different are the wheels? I have a 2005 STS4 and I never have this issue, If fact in a few months I only seen traction kick in 1 maybe 2 times.

Re: Traction Control Active While Turning

It takes a bigger difference in speed between wheels to trigger traction control than size difference would provide.

Re: Traction Control Active While Turning

I always have traction control kick in. I am rwd only and sometimes when I need to take a left hand turn and get out of the way quick... The traction will kick in and I will have my foot to the floor board going 10MPH. Did it yesterday on me. Just seems very easy to engage, must be some type of parameter that the on board gyro kicks it in. I would like to tweak that value. So, next time I don't have to reach down and push the button to disable TC.

Re: Traction Control Active While Turning

i dont know about you guys but traction control makes driving harder for me especailly in the winter because it always kicks in and send my back end going any direction, but without it my car could drive straight without slippin when the traction control is off in the snow. especailly when making left hand turns.

You may be trying to spin the inside rear wheel.

Re: Traction Control Active While Turning

My 2005 STS4 1SG did the same thing when making a sharp left turn or U-turn. There is a transmission re-flash that is available that corrects this and also eliminates the mis-diagnosed torque converter shudder. It will shift better also. Search the posts as this was addressed here about two years ago.

Re: Traction Control Active While Turning

Oh no doubt it is doing it's job as designed. I just have to remember to hit the traction button next time I do something like that. I can understand why it's like it is, just wish I could tweak it a bit.. but hey at least I have an override button.

Re: Traction Control Active While Turning

I get the traction control active when I take a fast U-turn from a stop light.
