HELP! Nav screen no touch response - Page 2

thanks a lot, i took it to the dealer today they reset the screen by disconnecting the battery and told me to bring it later for the 60.000 service to do the update then and they said i wont lose the tv function but since there is a problem in there internet connection with the main gm server they couldn't do the update now , i will bring it for the next service and will require a software update since i need to leave the car there for that full service

This proved to be a very helpful thread. Thanks! Happened to me on my 2005 STS this month. Disco/reconnect the ground and, snap, it's back.

Question, though. When you talk "software upgrade," are you saying "you'll need to buy the +/- $250 most current DVD"?

The Nav Unit Software Upgrade includes improved VR (some reduction of commands), Bluetooth & changes to Configuration screens. The Nav Disk is just minor map improvements and a lot of POI's. There are several good threads on this topic.

What exactly does the 60,000 mile service consist of since I can't find it in my manual?

The updated nav disc should be $199.
The software update mentioned earlier is not an updated nav disc, it is a special update disc set.
Each dealer gets one set for free and has to pay for successive sets.

It is a one time load that must be activated with a scan tool. The software versions should then be rechecked to verify a successful update.
