I'm still on the fence here. I've got an '05 STS4 (AWD) with 4 matching factory 18" wheels, 255/45/18's on the rear, 235/50/18's on the front. Anybody out there switch their front tires to 255/45's??? and if so, is that combination working for you??? Thanks, Rich

I just order 255/45/18 for all 4 on mine. I will tell you how it goes when I get them mounted.

Rich,
I`m german and our export-model with V8 comes with 255/45 18 front and rear and this is perfect for this car. On the V8 here we have the Brembo brakes and the wheels from the CTS V. (standard) The rims are all the same size so make sure it`s on your STS too!

Did you have to switch the hubs from a 5-lug to a 6-lug to get those wheels on or what?

Re: 255/45/18's All around on the STS4 Yes or NO?

I posted this in several places already. I changed to 255/45/18 Pilot Sport/AS on all four corners of my 2005 STS4. It's a big improvement. I have about 20 k on these and rotated once but it was not necessary. They are better in every way except the Sport/AS makes more sound on rough road. Otherwise, it is a safe choice.

Re: 255/45/18's All around on the STS4 Yes or NO?

When I bought my sts4, the tires had been rotated so the 255s were on front. No harm done. No serious rubbing, no computer or calibration problems.

Shudog, no that`s how the export V8 model comes to Europe.(six lug nuts)

The V6 got the 235s front and 255s rear on 17 inch wheels.(five lug nuts)

The V8 comes also with the Brembo brakes from CTS V and STS V.

Best brakes I`ve had in a Cadillac and I had many.

Harry

Re: 255/45/18's All around on the STS4 Yes or NO?

I put 245/45ZR18s on the front my '05 STS4 1SG when the 235s wore out. Big improvement. No rubbing. Better handling. Now my '08 STS 1SG has the Performance Handling Pkg with 245/45ZR18s all around on 8.5" wide 6 lug wheels (to clear the Brembos).
I would much rather spend $1500 on PHP than $2000 plus $1000 Gas Guzzler tax on AWD, but I live in the suuny South. I'm afraid if I drove (the way I do) on a snowy road with RWD, the Caddy would turn around and look at me in a heartbeat.
