| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic | | | | | My 60k popcorn machine.. ok so i have a '05 v8 1sg STS. the dam thing rattles away on the front passenger side of the car when i drive over rough/uneven roads. could be the passenger door, glove compartment, seat, seatbelt area. I DON'T KNOW. sometimes it sounds like it is coming from the instrument panel on the passenger side. anyway, brought it to the dealer 3 times. each time they say they fixed it. each time they didn't. Rattles are my #1 pet peeve. I know in the big scheme of life they are trivial but it is annoying. Just got it back last week after being at the dealer for 4 days and after they CLAIM they fixed it. well guess what .. they didn't. they told me there was something loose in the rear passenger door panel. My question is..should i just live with it? should i brng it back? should i swallow sticknine tablet's?? |

I used to work in a building that shared a parking lot with the dealer. I dropped my car off almost every day telling them to fix the rattles. They tried to deny me service, but I gently reminded that a car with less than 3000mi should not be in the shop almost every day for rattles. When I sent in a survey with all low marks, they suddenly knew I was serious. Unfortunately, nothing they did over ever stopped the rattles. They replaced the window mech, belt retractor, handle, opening mech, etc with no results. Heck the entire door panel was replaced after a small accident and even that did not stop the rattles. Now I have rattles in MANY more places. It sucks to say this, but you and I are not alone by any stretch. This car is VERY loose for a luxury class vehicle.
Some of the trouble spots seem to be the speaker/housing, door handle and inside door panel. Have them look at those spots first. |

Sit with service manager, and tell him how this thing is driving you up a tree. Personally, I would not bad mouth prev dealer, but I would just state that you are stimied.
Them STSs are fine cars, man. |

Otherwise, they won't work properly either. |

My 04 CTS was very solid when I traded it in at 48K for my SRX. I had high hopes that all the cars on this platform would be equally quiet. However, my SRX has been in for a number of rattles that the dealer can't track down. The latest noise is a rattle from the liftgate which I am trying to ignore. |

I had him go for a ride with me three times and he heard the sound three times. They "fixed" the problem three times (actually more) and it still rattles. My problem is that I have never sat in the passenger seat to hear the rattle for myself. I am always driving and trying to hold or push different parts to quiet the rattle. Some day I will get someone to drive for me so I can diagnose the problem myself.
I too am close to taking my strychnine (correct spelling) tablet, but may hold off until summer and give them one more chance. |

I thought it was the shoulder harness, drivers side and right next to my ear when I drove. I had it in 3 times before they fixed it. Turns out it wasn't the harness but the door striker was worn and the whole door was bouncing up on a bump and I would have bet a weeks pay it was the harness bracket. |

I had the drivers side door striker replaced as I thought it was the shoulder harness bracket on the piller right by my ear. After 3 attempts they finally figured out the striker was worn. How it wore so fast on a 07 with only 12K on it is by me. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
