05 sts4 interior rear view mirror

2005 sts4 with nav, I'd like to change the inside rear view mirror with one that has the compass, is this possible, is it easy? I like having the compass, but the one on the nav, is only available when you have the nav screen on., I'd like it both ways. Thanks

It's really easy if you already have an automatic dimming mirror. The mirror with the same features and a compass is plug and play. 1)Remove the wire cover near the headliner 2)Unplug the connector at the back of the mirror 3)Remove the cover on the bottom of the mirror mount to get to the screw that holds the mirror to the windshield 4)Loosen the screw 5) wiggle the mirror off the window button. Reverse to install. Your dealer should have one in stock. About $200 or find one on e-bay. You'll just have to watch to make sure the wire cover system on the mirror is the same.
