I bet I won't but, someone else will. What kind of answer is this?
Told you before it "HAPPPENED" to ME.

The system was designed to stay running?

Yes but, when you leave the car and it's still running add an alarm to let you know it is running or, lock the doors like it does when it's not running.

There is a problem and it needs to be fixed!!!

Someday someone will have the car stolen and you will stop making excuses.

Hey everyone is different.. For me I have no problem with the car running when I leave the vehicle if I dont turn it off. At lease 5 times a week I am out with my family and I leave them in the car if I have to run out and get something. Would I rather the car stay running with the heat or ac running or would I want the car to shut down and lock the doors and shut everything down when I walk 15 feet away. Unfortunately more prefer the system the way it is or they would have made a change in the 4 years it has been this way.

You may go to your local Auto Parts dealer and get one, if not they have a web address where you may order it at www.advanceautoparts.com.

Tolindo,

Thanks! I went by Advance and although their database doesn't show anything for the 2008 STS, they had the SKU # you gave and it fits just fine. The guy even said bring it back if I got any Check Engine lights, which I haven't.

I ended up bending up the little hook on the back of the fuel door with a pair of needle nose pliers so that the hook wasn't pressing tightly against the back of the cap when closing the door.

Dan

Re: Common issues w/ STS

Did you try manually locking the car with the button on the fob after walking away with the engine running?

Re: Common issues w/ STS

I guess for those of us in areas with anti-idling ordinances this whole thread is somewhat academic...

North of Toronto today there was another case of a lady leaving her car idling with the baby in the backseat baby-bucket while she got out. Led to a 40 mile police chase before they got the thief (and her baby back). I have little sympathy for people who risk their kids lives like that.

Re: Common issues w/ STS

I have an 05 and have two issues:

1. The steering wheel groans. Can only hear it if the radio is turned down.
2. Service Tire Monitor message has been appearing quite often, but only for a couple of seconds.

I guess I'll mention it when/if I need to have recall work done.

Re: Common issues w/ STS

Hey does anyone else notice the built-in xm radio sounds muffled like it is going through an fm modulator? Even FM sounds better than XM in my STS. Does XM just suck or did I get a bunk unit?

My XM sucks also... Its all that compression. FM sounds much better and is also much louder.

Same here. There's no way I'm paying for XM after my 3 months are up. MP3's burned on CDs sound much better then XM.
