Just that annoying rattle.
I think he said a washer or something might have been missing.
The technician's first hunch when he heard the rattle was a loose caliper.
After two previous visits to another dealership w/over 1-month of loaner cars & new lower control arms, the problem (rattle) was worse.
I think it is imperative to find a dealership with a good service department & good mechanics (technicians) that can correctly diagnose problems like this. |

I had a VW and you could lock it so no one could tamper with it.
Same for the Camry you could only open the gas tank from inside the car. |

I went to Walmart last week and when I came out I noticed the filler door on my 2008 STS open and the gas cap undone. I was more worried about somebody putting something in the tank rather then them stealing gas. So far no problems, so I'm just hoping it was some a**hole either playing around or trying to steal gas.
My previous car, a 2003 Bonneville SSEI, had an electrically-locking filler door that automatically locked and unlocked with the car doors.
So far I haven't been able to find a replacement gas cap that locks. I'm not happy. |

and it locks all doors automatically. (Great!)
If I leave the car running and go out without shutting the engine off, the car does not beep once or lock the doors?
This means anyone can get in the car remove valuables or even drive it away?
There must be a way to fix this problem. |

I remember to turn my car off just as I would turn it off if I used a key. |

| | Cadillac Owners Member Cadillac(s): Cadillac | | | | | Re: Common issues w/ STS Just remember the 2008 STS has no keys only the tranceiver that you must have it with you to get in. 2 weeks ago in a hurry this is what happened.
The car was running and the engine being so quiet I did not hear it, when my wife left to go out I rushed to follow her then 20 minutes later when I got back the car was still running. Luckily no one noted?
If it did not happen to me I would never know it but, since it did, I know it will happen to someone some day, by me letting people know it may help.
If there is an alarm for when the car is stopped and you leave to go out, why not have an alarm when it's running and you live to go somewhere?
Try it, leave the car running close the door, step away 15 steps and then see what happens. Anyone can get in the car and drive away.
Do the same with the car engine stopped step away 15 steps and you will hear an "alarm" the doors will lock automatically and no one can get in without the tranceiver. |

I went to Advance Auto Parts and was able to buy a Cap Gas locking unit which fits the 2008 STS car and now I have a key to lock the gas thank.
They identify it with Cap Gas Locking #5020029 and it costs $ 19.88.
You may go to your local Auto Parts dealer and get one, if not they have a web address where you may order it at www.advanceautoparts.com.

No such luck.
This is a problem I am tired of bringing it up, I called and wrote to GM and they ignored me.
I know now of never leaving the car without first stopping the engine, only I bet money someone will have this happen to them and that is too bad.
Hope someone fix this problem, as I can't. |

Its in the users manual and they designed it to work this way. What it all comes down to is its a learned process, If you always turn the car off when exiting you will have no issues. I have never left the car running. Is the STS new to you? If so I bet you wont make that mistake again? |

- drivers seat creaks going around corners or when you shift your weight, seat bottom feels like maybe its a little loose
- FM reception isn't as good as in my other cars. I live in the DC area with many stations and the signal doesn't sound very strong and/or the Scan feature skips over several of them. is there a Local/DX feature I overlooked? | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
