Exhaust system setup?

Can someone describe the general setup of the pipes on a v8 STS RWD? Is there a H pipe, X pipe, what is the difference, what are the sizes of all of the pipes, how are the mufflers setup, how big are the in and outs on the mufflers and are the in and out left right or center?

When I go to the shop, I want to have a good idea what to ask for.

Perhaps I should ask for less information. What size in and outs do I need, 2.5 in? If I were to replace the mufflers, would I need a off center in and a center out?
