2011 3.0 Transmission fluid recommended change interval?

    Two questions:

    1. What is the recommended transmission fluid change interval for a '11 3.0 XWD?

    2. Why does the owner's manual say the 2.8 doesn't need trans fluid changes?

The GMCanada Cadillac page suggests 80 000Kms / 50 000miles for severe service use.
    Suggested 160 000Kms / 100 000miles for normal service use.

Is a "transmission fluid change" something I can do myself? Is it simply draining the pan and refilling? Thanks.

You have to remove the pan. There isn't a drain plug. Any way you should change the filter also.

Unless you have driven it real hard or have been towing something alot, 75 to 100,000 miles would be my suggestion to change. If you have a hoist or floor jacks, jack stands and drain pans you can drain and remove the trans pan without to much trouble. Removing the pan you will some spillage for sure. Add the correct amount of fluid back in. The owners manual should say how much. Don't forget the trans filter!!!! Good luck....
