Had this happen on my CTS Wagon a couple times. As soon as the message showed up on the DIC, I shut the car off, waited 15-30 seconds and restarted. It worked, then I received the message again later. I did the same thing and it finally corrected itself. I believe there's a shift position sensor that can cause the error. If your message doesn't correct itself you may want to try a reboot...disconnect the battery and reconnect. Personally, If the engine restart doesn't work I'd bring it in. I don't like messin' with the battery unless absolutely necessary. Good Luck.

    Hello hwilliams555,

I am sorry to hear that your SRX is telling you to shift out of park when you are already in park. Have you brought this concern to your Cadillac dealership’s attention? If you would like any assistance setting up an appointment, I would be more than happy to. Please feel free to private message me if you would like my assistance. I will be sure be on the lookout for your future messages.

    Re: Shift Indicator

I just had the dealer fix this on my 2010 srx, This condition may be caused by the shift linkage adjustment, a slow Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) mechanism or a Park Confirmation micro-switch that is not closed.
    Correction:
Requires the dealer to adjust the automatic shift control linkage per the instructions, if that still doesn't do it, it says that the transmission shift control may need to be replaced.

I had the self same problem, the dealer fixed it under warranty by replacing the electronic transmission linkage sensor unit under the vehicle.
    Best of luck.

    Re: Shift Indicator

Please note if you have this fix at the dealer please make sure that ALL the switches work in the console are working as normal.
As for myself I took me two months to notice that the rear park assist button is not working. I think the tech may have forgot to plug in the switch.
Thanks to The Captian who found this problem.
