Just discovered the arm rest is adjustable.

Putting something in rear seat area I must have moved it forward with out knowing it. I later went to open the arm rest to put sunglasses in and I couldn't understand why release buttons were further underneath.....duh, well if anyone else doesn't know the arm rest can be slid forward to get your arm into a more comfortable position. Of course it closes off access to the cupholders as a downside.

And blocking the cupholders is why I don't use it. That and the fact the I try to sit up straight instead of lean slightly to the side. You are twisting your back when you do this. It also encourages you to drive with 2 hands when not leaning on the arm rest. It is nice to be able to slide it forward for those who use the armrest.

I found that out by mistake too, but it was in my '12 CTS. There is nothing in the SRX manual about it sliding that I know of.

I read about it here in a thread when I first got my SRX. My 5 series had the same feature.

I sometimes leave things like a phone or keys in the cup holders and move the arm rest froward to cover it. Gives a tad more storage and privacy..

Now if they could only stop it from sliding forward when you don't want it to.

Yes. Those of us with 2010 SRX's have the "free-spirit" armrest that seems to almost move without touching it. Perhaps they tightened it up on the newer models.

It is. Probably in '12, but my '13 is tighter for sure.

It takes some pressure to move mine in my '11.

I had no idea my 2011 had this feature either. I went out to check, and sure enough it moved. It sure is tight, and I'm happy with that. I don't think this is a feature I'll need to use.

I discovered this on a hot summer day when my arm was sticky with perspiration. I also found this feature explained in the manual. Mine is tight, and I always keep it in the 'back' position for easy access to the buttons that open the storage compartments.

I just realized mine dose it as well. I just got a 2012 SRX(yesterday), and I LOVE LOVE THIS CAR.
