    On Star Volume

    When I am receiving OnStar Turn by Turn Directions I can hardly hear them. (No I am not losing my hearing). I have found volume adjustments for the radio, phone and voice. I have contacted OnStar Tech. First they told me that the radio volume controls OnStar. Not!! Then I was told to adjust the volume while the turn by turn directions are in progress. NOT!! If I turn on the Voice volume very high it is better but when I later use the voice control feature the sound is so loud that I am worried about glass breakage. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Does your vehicle sound system have a personalization feature for speed-dependent volume ?? Owner's manual, Personalization....... if so, disable it.

    When you hear the voice start talking turn up the radio nob. This has to be done while the voice is talking. And it will only turn up the voice not radio. Hope this helps

I see another forum member offered advice for turning up the radio nob when the voice starts talking from OnStar. Have you been able to test this recommendation yet?     Have pm'd you several times. Maybe I am not doing it correctly. FYI: Went to dealer today. They believe the problem may be caused by a faulty amplifier. Service appointment scheduled for October 1st.

    After being in the service department for one week the problem was resolved. The amplifier that controls the turn by turn directions volume had been shorted out by a frayed wiring harness that led to the amp. At first the service tech thought that the amplifier was defective and replaced it only to discover that the replacement amp did not work. That is when they discovered that the frayed wiring harness was the culprit. I can now hear the turn by turn directions and am able to adjust the volume while they come over the speaker.

    Got in the car yesterday and requested On Star turn by turn directions be downloaded to my vehicle. They were and guess what? I could barely hear them. The problem that was supposedly fixed by the service department returned. Brought the car back this morning. Very FRUSTRATING!

    Finally, after four days I received my car. The turn by turn directions are now audible and volume adjustable. The tech said it was a faulty pin in the wiring harness. Hope this works!
