Hi I have a 2012 SRX from sandy The engine got some water in it and I tore it down and found the porosity I first thought it was from the water but upon further inspection we beleive it was there from the beginning. First they told me it had 49 miles on it but that was because the computer was dead the actual is about 8 to 9 miles on it. It was on the dealers lot never sold. The porosity is on the sides of the cyclinder not on the low spot and there is no discoloration with typical alum corosion and after closer inspection there is more porosity on that side of the block in the machined surface between 4 and 6. Closer inspection of the pic between 2 and 4 shows porosity with machined surface around the hole. The other cyclinders with water had no such porosity. The head shows no corosion I am very disappointed that this could be assembled this way.
The first pic is of the overall cyclinder
The second is between 2 and 4
The Third is the front of the cyc
Very unusual. I don't see "porosity" but apparent corrosion or pre-ignition damage from something. I'd think if the top of the bores show that, there'd be corresponding damage on the edge of the piston and the head.
The good news is it doesn't appear to be anything which would prevent you from reassembling the engine and sending it on down the road.
