    Average MPG

WIth talk of MPG, particularly with new owners, I'm wondering about overall MPG numbers. According to the OnStar App, I'm steady at 20MPG after approximately 8500 miles in just over a year of ownership. Mine is a '12 Luxury AWD. Driven primarily short distances to work and errands, but there are several 350 mile road trips between Syracuse,NY and Atlantic City, NJ. Going by the DIC, I generally see about 18+ for my regular driving, and around 24-25 on long trips.

I have never believe the Average MPG is accurate in the 2010 SRX. However, I can't prove this so I have not said anything about it. But I have never gotten it to read anything except 16.x where x varies slightly. Perhaps my mostly driving in town is the cause of this. <shrug>

I should have stated that I have very fuel efficient driving habits. Easy on the accelerator, easy on the brakes. pacing the lights, highway speeds within the limit generally. This is not for everyone, but I generally am very conservative.

I have basically the same driving habits. That is why it's been a bit disappointing that I can't get better gas mileage on the SRX.

    Re: Average MPG

My 2011 SRX is 3.0 with FWD and I have logged every gas stop in an app on my iPhone since the day I purchased the car brand-new. According to the app, from 11/2010 to present the SRX has averaged 19.5 mpg. My driving is mostly rural roads, very few stoplights and perhaps 5% Interstate for less than 20 miles. No long trips. The miles calculated by the app always match the trip odometer miles exactly but there is always a small discrepancy with gallons used. I always click the fill nozzle the same number of times and try to get a consistent fill-up. The mpg calculated by the SRX is usually a higher mpg than indicated by the app and I do believe the app. On a few rare occasions the app has indicated 21.7 mpg if I spend the week mostly driving on the Interstate. Same as you, I am easy on the accelerator, easy on the brakes, pace the lights and drive the speed limits. A total of 18,203 miles and approximately 70 fill-ups comprise the average. I would have to manually add up all of the gallons, unfortunately the app does not provide total gallons to date.

Using Fuelly.com I've kept track of every fill up after the first fill up. To date here are my stats from the site: Avg 20.8 Best 25.2 Miles logged 8215. My odometer shows 8411 miles. I should note that my road trips include lots of upgrades on I-81 In NY and PA and I-476 in PA.

'13 SRX AWD average over lifetime is 11.9L/100km (19.7 US MPG) -21 6xx kms
60% Highway 40% Town. I floor it everywhere and drive considerably above the speed limit. 130kph/110kph limit.

Going to work and back, with no wind at 110kph, i get 9L/100km (26 US MPG). I'm happy.

We have a phrase here in Austin that describes you people: Hurry up and wait.

Given our traffic gridlock, it's funny to watch them race from one red light to the next. They never seem to figure out that if they just go the speed limit the light will change and they won't have to stop. DUH!

Here in my neck of the woods, you have to hustle to make the lights. If you barely make it through one, you gotta go at least 5 over to get through the next before it turns red. Why they have it like this? Either bad timing or trying to get people to speed for $$$$ in tickets?

Haha yea, I can't drive in Austin like I do at home, without just Red Light Racing. It's a much different level of traffic down there.

    Re: Average MPG

Well. I just filled up again and my latest mpg is 14.98 combined--very disappointing. I now have 1000 miles on the car and it is not improving much if at all like the dealership said it would. I took it in last week for problems with the cue system(of course they could not duplicate the problems--my car keeps dropping back to radio when i use the blue tooth--the phone is still calling though. I had them see if there was anything they could do for the mpg and they said it was getting 17 and 28(when I got the car back they had driven 11 miles and the avg mpg was 12.8 where they reset the computer).

    Re: Average MPG

Would be interesting to compare XWD to FWD. Based upon experience, there's probably a 1.5 to 2 MPG penalty with XWD.

The greatest single factor I've noted in fuel economy is the number of cold starts. Up here in the frozen northwest, in the winter, with many short trips, my wife's 3.0 XWD gets 14 MPG. In summer on long trips, 22 MPG.

Also, the computer algorithm usually is optimistic. When I write odometer readings and divide by pump gallons, it's always less than the computer. This is not only true with the SRX, but a columnist in one of the car mags recently noted this on several of their tests.

    Re: Average MPG

I have a 2011 FWD Base model with 77k miles. Just going by the onboard computer, I am averaging 23.9 for the past month or so. I do a lot of long highway trips though. I think I get closer to 22mpg with a normal hwy/city split. I live in the metro-Detroit area, drive 5 over religiously, and hit the pedal harder than the average minivan owner at all lights (you have to in order to hit Michigan's poor light timing.)

Overall, I am very pleased with the performance and the mpg. Fortunately for me, metro-Detroit doesn't get a ton of snow and the roads are very flat, so FWD for me is a money saver. If I lived in New England (where I grew up,) the question would be more complicated.
