I've had my 2010 SRX Premium (3.0L, FWD, 32k miles) for about a month. Upgraded from a 2005 SRX. After getting some minor glitches worked out under warranty (nothing major; new radio due to it forgetting the settings on exit, and transmission software update to the new version to take care of those strange shift points), I'm REALLY loving this vehicle.
Did some searches here, and on google, but can't find the answer I'm looking for so I apologize in advance if this has been asked before....
Something I've noticed in the past few days that I don't remember my '05 SRX doing, is that if I stop at a light on a while on a hill, and let off the brake, the SRX will start to roll backwards until I put my foot back on the brake. Is this normal?
Sorry if this is a stupid question.
maybe answering my own question here, but when not limiting my google-ing to the SRX I'm finding that many newer vehicles do this due to the idle RPM being lower than cars in the past (a fuel saving thing). So maybe that's what's going on here? I have noticed this SRX idles at a lower RPM than my '05 did, so it seems plausible.

Re: Rolling Backwards when stopped on a hill
Your SRX should have hill start assist, which if the brake is pressed more than 60% down (or so) when stopped, it'll hold the brakes for three seconds giving you the time to get your foot on the gas.
I would experiment with different brake pressures and see.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it does that, but if I let my foot off the brake for more than a few seconds before I hit the gas (on a hill), it will go backwards.....this isn't something that I would normally do, but I got stuck in some heavy traffic on a hill and that's when the I noticed this happen. Thanks for the feedback guys. Love this SRX!
