    Help before buying

Finally I decided to buy a big car, Cadillac SRX?
Is it true that it has really good Fuel economy system?
How do you find its Optional Features?
Any good dealers to buy it at Denver? What can you recommend me?

    Re: Help before buying

I would not say the SRX is a big vehicle. It is mid-sized. The interior is not as roomy as you might think, compared with similiar sized vehicles. Not cramped, but not cavernous either. It has no special fuel saving features like cylinder deactivation, which I like because it is more reliable, in my opinion. It also uses regular gasoline, unlike many competitors who use recommend premium. It appears the gas mileage for the SRX is about average for this size vehicle, with the plus being you use regular unleaded.

The 2013 has a totally different dashboard and radio and HVAC controls, so I can't comment on that, I have a 2012.

    maz-mac,
Thank you for your interest in the SRX! Just to address a few of your questions, the 2013 SRX is estimated by the EPA (see fueleconomy.gov for more details) to achieve 17 MPG city/24 MPG highway. The engine is flex-fuel capable, and so is able to use E85 gasoline if that is something that is of interest to you.

We would be happy to get you information on nearby dealerships if you wanted to send us your ZIP code.

    maz-mac....

Don't plan on getting the EPA fuel mileage!!!! My 2010 gets 17 around town and 21 on the hwy. I have never been over 22. If you are really concerned about good mileage, the SRX is not the vehicle....

We need to compare the same engines. I assume he would be getting the 3.6.

Got my 2012 in Nov with the 3.6 and I get 16mpg mostly city driving....I also have a heavy foot....never tested it on highway on a big trip yet....my first impression was that it is not that great on gas compared to my previous car with similar size engine...but I like it doesn't use premium like other competitors ... Would have this been a deal breaker if I had known?....no, I still like my SRX...but just be aware!

It's difficult to answer definitively from a short post because the OPs past frame of reference isn't detailed.

However, from what is asked, those questions might indicate the SRX is not the best choice. It's not large, especially inside. It's not at all fuel-efficient because it is heavily loaded with comfort features, bells and whistles. Best suggestion, go drive several different vehicles and then see how the SRX compares with your previous rides.

I have the 2010 FWD Premium and live in Austin, TX which is very hilly. I have never been able to get over 18 mpg in city driving which is pretty much what I do exclusively.

    Re: Help before buying

I traded a Lincoln Navigator for my 2012 SRX. I couldn't be more pleased with my decision.

    - The SRX may not be a big vehicle on the outside. My wife is just as comfortable in the driver or passenger position and our kids have more usable room in the back seat.
    - The SRX has the road feel and stability that equals the Navigator.
    - The creature comforts of the SRX (Performance Collection) are as nice and in many cases better than the Lincoln.
    - The Navigator gets 11mpg in the city; the SRX gets 18.
    - On regluar gas the Navigator, on a good day gets 18mpg at 55 mph and 14mpg at 70mph. The SRX is getting 26-27 mpg at 55 mpg and a solid 24 mpg at 70 mph.

I would shoot for a Performance or Premium Collection, if for no other reason, just to get the HID headlamps.

Summary: Small dimensionally, well appointed heavy/safe/comfortable vehicle that is smooth and quiet on the road, runs on regular and is good on gas. The fit and finish of the car is as good as anything we looked at and better than most.

    Re: Help before buying

    Maz-Mac,

I have been lurking on here since I purchased my 2012 SRX back in October 2012. I have really learned a lot from the experts like The Captain and Sube. With that said, I felt it was time to chime in and provide a little insight on my experience with the SRX. I will say first that I was on my way to buy an Acura when the wife said lets go check out the SRX (I did a little research on mid-sized SUVs and kept talking about the SRX and she didn't want us to make a big mistake). I am glad we did! I was pleasantly surprised with the features and ride. I have about 6300 miles on the vehicle with two road trips under the belt. In my case, the SRX averages around 19 city and 23 hwy (I too have a heavy foot). Both the wife and I enjoy the ride and have yet to be disappointed with our decision to buy the performance model. Keep in mind, it is just the wife and I 90% of the time so this is just the right size for us. I hope this helps and you find what you are looking for.

I've spent a lot of time in Austin and have walked up the "hill" from 6th Street to the Omni. After 2 A.M., it's like a mountain, but if you think Austin is qualifies as hilly, just don't ever leave Takus. ;>)

I used to have a Cadillac but went to a Buick Enclave 2011 after my CTS4 was hi jacked electronically. My Enclave gets the same mileage as your SRX's do. Larger vehicle and 4500lbs towing. 17 cty and 24 hwy i usually go from MI to AZ and at 80 mph i always get 24 on the 2000 mi trip. Not bad for a 5000 lb cross over.

    Re: Help before buying

If you really have an issue with gas mileage, the srx is nothing special for gas mileage. I have 2010 premium, usually 17-18 in town and 21.5 22.0 on the highway. The 3.6 engine is so much better than the 3.0. The mileage is about the same, but the difference in performance is much better. I am trying to make a deal on an 2013 premium now. Hope it all comes together, if not, I may consider the Lexus RX350, about the same price.....
Good luck on your vehicle buying decision!!!!

All vehicles in a similar weight, horsepower category will always get the same fuel economy. The EPA fuel economy info shows that. Dosent matter what MFR, it is a matter of Physics.

Does not look like the Lexus is in the long run a bit more expensive to operate and its foreign. Buy American
