    Onstar price deal

I went to place an Onstar call and was informed that I did not have any minutes left. I had 300 minutes last month but they expired at the end of Nov. They offered to roll them over for me for $15 plus 30 extra minutes. I took them up on it.

My issue with OnStar minutes is the high taxes you have to pay on top of the charge. It's not their fault, but the taxes and fees are disproportionately high. It is true that expiring minutes will be extended when you purchase additional minutes. Sounds like a good deal for you Rudy.

    Re: Onstar price deal

I bought some minutes the first year I owned my car and barely used any of them. Then I found out that the cell carrier who handles it is Verizon. OMG! I HATE Verizon. In fact, I hate the whole "minutes expire" thing. No more than I use a phone for yapping, I wish I could just buy some minutes and use them up whenever.

And yes, the taxes are outrageous!

    Re: Onstar price deal

I have the OnStar minutes as well. Each time I renewed, I was given the 30 minute deal for $15.00 (the first was 100 minutes for the $15.00). I just renewed 3 days ago for the $15. That will keep my account active.

My only complaint is the minutes expire about 3 months before my regular OnStar subscription. When I explained this to the Rep. she indicated that she inserted a note in my file and when I renew the regular subscription in March, to request THAT REP. to merge the 2 accounts. Supposedly they do this all the time.

Oh, and when I renewed the regular account last time they gave me another 100 minutes for free. So I have something like 350 minutes that I hardly use. But they're nice to have and I plan on using the majority of them when I travel this summer.
