Does SiriusXM still charge to transfer ID from one radio to another?

Getting out of a 2010 SRX lease into a 2013.

In my 2010, I had the entire stereo head unit replaced a year ago. SiriusXM charged $15 to transfer the radio ID from that radio to the new head unit.

So, I am wondering if history will repeat itself or not.

I get 3 months free SiriusXM with this lease to add on to my existing time left, but will they charge me to transfer from the 2010 to 2013 vehicle?

I had to wait for my initial trial to run out before I could get a multi radio discount. I have a subscription in another vehicle also. My point is that you may have to do the same. I would advise you to call early and have them make a note so the activation fee will be waived when you reactivate the service. When I called 1 day after the trial expired I was on hold for about 5 minutes. The rep apologized and gave me an additional discount for my trouble. I have found that XM is getting better with customer service during my last 2 calls to them. I can't speak to a transfer fee. Sorry.

Yes. You might be able to sweet talk them though.

    Uhm...

So, a SiriusXM rep is here offering to help but offers no help with the question being posed here.

Are you guys going to charge a long-time XM/Sirius Subscriber to transfer my information from an old vehicle to a new vehicle?

The last time I had the Nav/Radio replaced I went to the dealership to pick up my car and they had not transferred the SiriusXM service to my new unit. I refused delivery of the SRX until that was done. I was not charged for it.

By the way, contacted the Sirius rep in this thread and he has been very helpful in offering to transfer my existing subscription to my new SRX.

Appreciate that kind of customer care

That's good news. I feel, as I stated earlier, that Sirius/XM has seen alot if improvement in customer service. I have enjoyed XM for 8 years now.

Nice to hear something positive about them for a change. Unfortunately, I think there days are numbered as smart phones become more integrated into our cars. With services like MOG, Rhapsody, Spotify, and Pandora (et. al.), it's only a matter of time before SiriusXM bites the dust. They desperately need a smart phone app (do they have one?).

I just renewed for 5 months. I will probably cancel after that. I have MOG, Rhapsody, and Pandora on my smart phone. I just plug in the Aux jack and play what I want to hear. MOG is the best because it streams at the highest bit rate of any of them. www.mog.com

    Steve,

My only concern with using those apps in the vehicle (which is a great idea)....

    Data streaming.

How much data does playing a radio app for several hours per day eat into the data plan?

I don't have unlimited. I think with my tethering plan, I get 4GB worth of total data per month.

    ----------

    Wow...

Never heard of MOG. Just went to the webpage. Free? No catches?

I will definitely have to read up more on that.

Look forward to hearing your experiences with data plans and streaming radio -- especially high bitrate services like MOG

With the free version of MOG, you can only play it on your computer. No mobile. I pay $9.99 per month for MOG Primo which is unlimited and works on my smart phone and iPad.

I have a T-Mobile account which gives me 100 minutes of talk, unlimited text and unlimited data for $30/month. I'm not much of a talker and haven't gone over my 100 minutes of talk time. The unlimited data gives you 5GB at 4G speeds. If you go over the 5GB, you can still stream but just at a slower rate. I have yet to go over 5GB or even get close to it. But, I only have a 15 minute commute to work each way and I don't drive a lot.

They still charge you 15 dollars to swap radio ID's. The trick is to cancel your old radio and then continue your demo until almost expires and sign up for service.
