    Lug Nuts

I was wondering if one of my fellow forum members might be able to do me a favor and post a picture of the 18" OEM wheel with the center cap removed (preferably a 2012 SRX with 18" OEM wheels). I am particularly interested in a picture of the lug nuts for the 18" wheels.

The reason for my request is that I own a 2012 SRX AWD Performance with the stock 20" wheels. I recently purchased a set of the factory 18" wheels off of eBay and intend to use these wheels as my winter set ( I am purchasing a set of winter tires for these wheels). When I was speaking to the parts person at my local Cadillac dealer I asked him if there were a different set of lug nuts for the 18" vs. 20" wheels. Sure enough there are 2 types of lug nuts listed for an SRX, stainless steel - like those on the 20" wheels which are exposed, and "undecorated" which may be for the 18" wheels since they are covered by the center cap (the parts guy was not sure if these were specific to the 18" wheel). At $4 a lug nut for the undecorated, I am hesitant to spend the $96 for lug nuts for my 18" wheels if I can get away with using the lug nuts holding on my 20" wheels. My only concern with the lug nuts on the 20" wheels is that they are capped, or have a top to them, versus a traditional lug nut where the lug/stud goes entirely through the nut, and that the 20" lug nut might top out on the lug/stud with the 18" wheels on.

Sorry for the long explanation, but I would really appreciate if someone could post a picture of an 18" OEM wheel's lug nuts.

Thanks in advance for your time and for helping out a fellow member,
    Jim

    Re: Lug Nuts

The lugs from the 20's just fit snugly under the 18's centre cap. I've done it for two years now. Save some coin!

Please note, locking lugs will not fit under the 18's centre cap.

    Re: Lug Nuts

Does anyone know the lug nut specs? I find 12 x 1.5 as the thread pattern but I am wondering will just any lug nut work or do they have to be a specific type? I want to get some tuner lug nuts to match my dark wheels

    Thanks

Yes, the plain lug nuts are for the 18" wheels.

No, the domed nuts won't "top out" on the studs. The only worry will be if the domed nuts would prevent the center cap from seating completely.

Maybe, just try your existing nuts and see if the caps will seat. Worst case. you'll have to buy the plain nuts.
