I really wanted them badly, but could not justify or really afford the next level in options. I would gladly have paid for them as a standalone option. I don't feel comfortable with inexpensive aftermarket solutions, both from a warranty standpoint and am concerned as to how long they will last. Any thoughts?
Your concerns are correct however, quality of a product comes with any company right? People buy Sony before they buy Acer right? Why? Quality and a brand you can trust. HID Kits companys are no different. As far as going to the dealership, its same thing like asking, "Should I go to the dealership, or a regular mechanic for my car problems?" Both will help out however everyone knows you pay almost 4x as much going to the dealership. Hope this helps.

Cool Re: OEM HID Conversion possible?

Awesome thread, thanks for helping with some of the mystery for me as I've only really worked on Japanese cars. I'm wondering if the headache is really worth avoiding to remove the bumper. Although I do know that it saves you the time of adjusting headlights after etc. I'll figure it out. As far as HID kits...it can really be a crapshoot. I'll be installing the same H11 HID kit that I salvaged from our 08 accord that we just turned in. DDM Tuning and only $40, but has been working flawlessly for 4 years, go figure. At the very worst I'll end up just being really good at swapping out HID kits.

Another question, has anyone taken a look at access to the rear of the headlight from inside the fender liner? On the Honda's I've been able to access both fog bulbs and most parking/signal and low beam from there.

Thank you for taking the time to list all of this in great detail. On Sunday I attempted to change the bulbs on my wife's 2012 SRX and was only able to get the fuse box to pick up about two inches after loosening the three screws and un snapping all six clips. Would you happen to have a remedy?

I found the same thing. The answer is to partially remove the front bumper. The owner's manual is misleading here, telling you how to replace the headlight bulbs. The reality is that this process is anything but simple and not really a DIY.
