First Snow Job for 2012 SRX

While out for a grocery/toy run I encountered our first snow/ice storm of the year. I was very impressed with how our 2012 SRX/AWD with OEM 20" tires handled the slippery roads. Also the front and rear defroster and front and rear windshield wipers were able to keep up with the ice build up enabling me to have normal vision out of the vehicle. Our SRX is like having a jeep with leather seats.

That it is! I just recently GoPro'd some vid in the fresh snow we (finally!) got. Turn StabiliTrack off and you can have a blast! Not to mention the winter tires make this thing handle like its on rails (with some assistance to StabiliTrack if need be)!

A Jeep with leather seats is a Grand Cherokee and they wrote the book onfour wheel drive. Try getting a real set of snow tires for the SRX 20" rims. in real snow country the lo pro all seasons wont cut the mustard. Jeep has over 1.5" more ground clearance and better rear visiability in the blind spots too. Dont think there is a real comparison between the two. Im looking at both of them right now and so far the ride of the SRX is leaving me very dissapointed in a Caddy! The Jeep is looking better every time I go test driving and comparing the two.

Re: First Snow Job for 2012 SRX

Over the years we've had four jeeps. You're right the Cadillac and the Grand Cherokee are two totally separate vehicles. If I were going to run snow tires I'd probably run 18" which is what I did on our FX35. I've decided not to change out the tires and wheels on the SRX. We don't usually get a lot of snow and when we do I'll just use our Tahoe. IMHO the SRX has a far superior ride to the Grand Cherokee while the Grand Cherokee is better off road or in deep snow.

Jeep may have wrote the book on 4WD, but Cadillac (via the Swede's) have the book on AWD! Torque transfer for the win!

Also I bump down to 18" rims for winter use for better tire options, and ride quality.
