    2012: Any instrumented 0-60 times?

There was a lot of press on the 2012 when it came out last summer, It had everything from a 6.2 time( which I don't believe) to a 7.6 sec. Time, which is disappointing, but identical to the ford edge which has 305 hp.

I know of no instrumented testing on the 2012. Anyone?

It does feel light on it's feet, but I don't recall reading anything official.

It just seems hard to get any CUV into the low 6s unless it is a v8 or a turbo. The 2012 I drove felt like it as packing a small v8' but no way was it in the low 6s.

I've never really understood the fascination some people have with quick acceleration, unless riding on a motorcycle. Here in my town, we have lots of people that tear out from traffic lights like they're headed to a million dollar giveaway only to have to stop 10 seconds later at the next red light. <scratches head in amazement> We call 'em "hurry up and waits". LOL!!

Re: 2012: Any instrumented 0-60 times?

The SRX AWD feels like its a mid to high 7sec 0-60 car. My Infiniti EX 35 AWD was a 6.7-6.9sec and it feel much quicker 0-60 than the SRX(granted 250lbs lighter). Highway passing is another story, as the caddys low end pull at highway speeds wins without straining. I don't enjoy merging onto a highway with the caddy though. All show no go above 6K Rpms. Had trouble beating out an 18 wheeler that was in the right lane and didn't want to let me merge. That never happened in the Infiniti. A bit disturbing. Oh well. Couch on wheels can't be expected to burn rubber.

There isn't much rpm range left above 6000 Jonkarn (1100 rpm)... do you want a Ferrari engine that can wind out 10 000rpms?

Was it a 2012 with the 3.6 you drove? The new engine makes quite a difference compared to the 2010 & 2011's. Never encountered the merge issue you are talking about.

I assume that time is for the FWD. AWD might add what, another 4/10 or 5/10ths to that time?

I never understood why GM put such a puny engine in the 2010, 2011 models. I had an Infiniti QX4 before the SRX and it had a 3.5L engine in it and it was over 10 years old. I thought that perhaps in 10 years technology had improved to the point where it would get better gas mileage and still give you the power. I was wrong. I think that the 3.0L is under strain and that decreases its potential gas mileage. Mind you, I'm no expert in these matters but I'm certainly glad to see that GM decided to go with the larger (3.6L) engine in the 2012 model.

Re: 2012: Any instrumented 0-60 times?

I agree that there's not much left above 6K RPMs however the fact that the auto transmission stays in the gear too long at 6K and above under strong acceleration is part of that problem. Max torque is in the mid 2K rpms so at high revs u dont get any pull. In sport mode u can overcome this a bit by up shifting sooner and avoiding the all show no go revving. Again the SRX is very impressive when already moving at highway speeds though.

There was a thread on here previously about new programming for the transmission that made it shift smoother and better. I got my dealer to apply it and my car drives much better than when it was new thanks to this.

Perhaps if you'd care to update your profile with your car info, I wouldn't have clutter up this forum with unnecessary posts.
