Thanks for this info by the way. I wonder if this applies to the 2012 as well. How does it work and how did it change the drive of yours?
My wife got a FWD 3.6L 2012 as her loaner and she felt it was on par or a bit faster than her AWD 2.8 Turbo. They turbo has the power turned way down in 1/2 gear to like 40% boost from what I can see. I think if we had a turner to turn it up the 2.8 could be the top engine.
You are correct, Len, about the 2007 GenI SRX with the Northstar V8 and the 6-speed (320hp/315 lb.ft. torque). The better times of 6.2-6.4 seconds to 60 MPH were indeed achieved in the RWD ones that were about 250 pounds lighter in weight. And yes, the AWD versions were about .5 seconds slower to 60mph.
One may say "What is the big deal about .5 seconds in a 0-60mph sprint?" That's about 44 feet (15 yards) or just shy of 3 car lengths in a GenI SRX @ 195 inches in length.
