Motor Oil in the 2012 SRX's

I've been following the thread regarding changing oil and one of the posts referred to synthetic oil. What type of oil does the 2012 SRXs come with from the factory, Dino or Synthetic? I don't remember reading it in the manual. I hope it's synthetic as I think it adds more protection to the engine. Our C5 Corvette came from the factory with Mobile One and thats all we've ever used and have never had the first minutes problem from it.

The 2012 owners manual states, "that you shall use engine oil licensedto the dexos1 specification. ACDelco dexos1 Synthetic Blend is recommended"

I guess GM and Mobile 1 are no longer happy with the other, lol

I'm guessing it's another cost cutting measure similar to deleting "RainSense" wipers from the Escalade.

Thank you for the quick response. I read the manual and the reference to dexos1, however I was unaware it was synthetic. I would prefer a straight synthetic like Mobile One instead of a blend. However I guess since the oil changes are included I'll learn to like dexos1!

In 2010 the motor required Mobil 1, cause we paid for oil changes.

In 2011 the same motor requires a synthetic "blend" cause GM is paying for oil changes.

I've never tried a synthetic blend because there isn't that much difference in the cost. Not being familiar with dexos1 I'll have to do a little research. Does anyone have any comments pro or con on dexos1.

Dexos1 is 'just' an oil specification created by GM for their engines. Oil makers have to pay a licensing fee to GM & any oil labelled as 'Dexos1' must pass a GM certification process.

Mobil 1 does meet the requirement and is labelled as Dexos1.

All GM vehicles as of 2011 require oil that is licensed to the dexos1 specification.

It's free in the Premium Care Maintenance Plan!

And it seems to stay pretty clean, almost as long as a synthetic. Mine lasts around the 12 000 kms mark alright with not being super black or gross.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour? '14 Cadillac ATS Performance 3.6L AWD in Phantom Grey Metallic and Morello Red Interior -ARRIVED!!
