All of the literature lists the overall height of the new SRX @ 65.7". How much taller is it including the mast antenna? I have a new one on order and am concerned because my garage door opening is only 75".
I am at work, and the car is at home, but I don't think the little antenna sticks up over the roof rails. Surely the height you mention is including the roof rails. If you want, I will look at the car when I get home, but somebody else will probably chime in.
O.K. This is from my 2012 AWD without NAV. (Not sure if the antenna is different for a NAV vehicle or not.) If I did my math correct with my garage door opening and the distance between the antenna, the antenna tip looks like it is right around 75 inches. (With a half a tank of gas.) It will most likely be a problem for you. You may want to check around to see if there is another style antenna mast that can be screwed onto the housing. (Different year or model vehicles??)
If the 12 is the same as the 10 the bottom 4 inches is fairly solid, but does have some give to it. The upper 6 inches is very flexible. Don't know why they chose this antenna, unless it has better reception. My 11 Avalanche has the shark fin and gets very good XM/OnStar and regular radio.
Take a look at my thread below. I have a 4 Post lift in my garage and needed an alternative to the mast antenna that comes with the SRX (Mine is a 2011) I bought the Shark Fin and had it color matched to my SRX (Perfect Match). The only reduction in reception I have noticed is with AM Radio (Which I never use). Hope this thread helps you with your SRX. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forum...rum-2010/236028-shark-fin-antenna-update.html
2010 FWD Premium 1/4 tank gas 32 lbs rear tires 75" top tip of antenna to floor. I measured ceiling hieght 101 " then top tip of antenna to ceiling
26 " Equal 75" SRX height. Hope this helps you.
Thanks for the additional info. I did see your post about the shark-fin antenna (TN 2011 SRX) and have bookmarked their web-site. It's my understanding that the antenna itself is only for radio reception and the base houses the GPS/OnStar antenna. I am going to see if my dealer can replace the mast section with some type of stubby antennna. My problem is that the bottom section of the garage door does not go all the way up into the ceiling when open. Just measured and it leaves an opening of 75.5", except for the lip of the door the rest of the garage height is fine. Ponyman thanks for the info about the upper 6" being very flexible, this might not be a problem after all. Can't wait to get the new vehicle (2012 SRX AWD Premium - Platinum Ice/Ebony)!
You are one of the first to get the Platinum Ice this year, since it was restricted. You qwill love the color, it sparkles in the sunlight, and doesn't show dust at all.
Well, it's on order but I don't have it yet. Probably another 4 weeks. Was originally thinking about Black Ice until I found out Platinum Ice was taken off of the restriction list.
I wanted to make sure to thank everyone that responded to this thread for their imput. I look forward to joining you all here, on this part of the forum, as an SRX owner.
Hello, I went to the VG website to order but I do not see Cadillac listed as a brand they offer a solution for. Did you just email them and give them your paint code? Thanks
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
