    New software 3.0L V6

I'm a new owner of a SRX. Fantastic car. I read in a Swedish magasine that GM are planning a release of a new software to the 3.0L V6 engine. Or is it a change of the transmission?
The big news was that the maximum torque should be at 3100 RPM instead of 5100 RPM today. Sound like a very good idea.
    Has anyone heard about it?

    More Info Please

Which Swedish magazine? Post a link, or at least copy and paste the entire article. Then we can figure out if this is something different than the software update for the transmission.

    Re: More Info Please

Disclaimer - no affiliation with vendor. Just a new 2011 SRX owner surfing around the intertube where I discovered this:

"Trifecta Performance specializes in delivering custom powertrain control module (PCM) programming to the high performance community. Trifecta Performance offers both local “dyno” tuning services in the Seattle, WA area , as well as mail-order custom PCM programming services."

The owner says on his web site:

"My two passions in life are cars and computers."

    His (partial?) CV as listed:

"Prior to founding Trifecta Performance, Inc., Vince enjoyed an 11 year career at Microsoft as a senior manager in the Windows group."

I emailed him about my 3.0L and he said this:

"I had a 2010 Buick LaCrosse with that engine – attached is the dyno sheet. You’ll note that mid range torque improved quite a bit."

The dyno sheet is attached (hopefully - If not I will try again).

Looks to be about a 20% increase in torque in the mid RPM range. Don't know if any intake/exhaust mods were made or if the reprogramming will require the use of premium fuel. It's kind of pricey at $400 (+$200 refundable deposit for equipment, and shipping I'm sure) in DIY form but for those looking for a bit of improvement it may be the thing.

Being a newbie here, I'm not sure about forum rules about posting business links so you can find them using the usual tools.

Anyone care to venture whether this would void the warranty?

    Re: More Info Please

The magazines name is Teknikens Värld. Sorry for the strange letters. The article is not present at the web.
    But it says:
"Till hösten utlovas förbättringar och en omprogramering av V6:an som ska göra att vridmomentstoppen sänks med nästan 2000 r/min och leverera mest kraft vid cirka 3100 r/min".
    Google translate:
"This fall promises improvements and a omprogramering of V6 that will cause the torque peak is lowered by nearly 2000 r / min and deliver the most power at approximately 3100 r / min"
    My own correction:
"This fall improvements are promised and a reprogramming of the V6 will lower the torque peak nearly 2000 RPM and deliver the most power at approximately 3100 RPM"

Doyall, any computer management reprogramming done not by GM results in a voided warranty. If they can see it. Which they can if they have to look at your PCM.
