That is great to hear and thanks for the update!! I am looking forward to installing this on the car. I have never like the look of the staff antennas and on my previous vehicle they seemed to break easily.

I received an email on Jan 17th saying it was shipped via USPS. Since Monday was a holiday, I hope to get it either today or tomorrow.

    Re: Shark Fin Antenna (Update)

I received my shark fin antenna on Friday and installed it on Saturday. It was a very easy install and a perfect paint match to my Raven Black color. I love the look much better than the staff antenna. It definitely goes with the lines of the vehicle much better. It surprises me that this antenna isn't on the vehicle from the start given how much detail was put in the styling of the SRX to begin with.

I am definitely happy with this modification and I can't wait for my LED fog light Bezel to come in now. :-)

Will you be posting a picture? I'm considering purchasing one of these.

Wow, looks good Tina. I received and installed mud flaps today. $35 on ebay from China but the same as the ones at the dealer at over $100. More necessary for Canada than Florida.

Hey Tina, my wife and I stayed at a beachfront condo in Indian Shores in November. We are going back to Orlando in March... got to escape this #$%@! Winter.

So how much does the shark fin cost now?

Thanks Zwiefela and Tup. This was a really easy install and makes a big difference in the overall look of the vehicle.

The shark fin antenna cost me $85 usd. It comes from a Canadian company. They make them to order so production time is about two weeks before shipping. They kept me informed via email throughout the process so I would definitely recommend them.

Tup, I don't blame you needing a break from the Canadian winter. It is hard to beat the Florida weather this time of year. I have lived my whole life here and have only seen snow 3 times. I want to ride a snow mobile one of these days. They look like so much fun. Are you and your wife going to go to Disney or any of the theme parks while you are in Orlando?

I haven't experienced any issue. I have listened to FM and Sirius so far and all sounds just as good as it did before. From a previous post that I did, the FM/AM antenna is integrated into the back window and the staff antenna is primarily used for OnStar, GPS and Satellite. Here is the info from the 2013 Cadillac Infotainment guide.

    Backglass Antenna

    The AM-FM antenna is integrated
with the rear window defogger in the
rear window. Do not scratch the
inside surface or damage the lines
in the glass. If the inside surface is
    damaged, it could interfere with
    radio reception. For proper radio
    reception, the antenna connector
needs to be properly attached to the
    post on the glass.
If attaching a cell phone antenna to
the glass, attach it between the grid
    lines.

Notice: Using a razor blade or
sharp object to clear the inside
rear window can damage the rear
    window antenna and/or the rear
    window defogger. Repairs would
not be covered by the vehicle
warranty. Do not clear the inside
    rear window with sharp objects.
    Notice: Do not apply aftermarket
    glass tinting with metallic film.
The metallic film in some tinting
    materials will interfere with or
    distort the incoming radio
    reception. Any damage caused to
    the backglass antenna due to
    metallic tinting materials will not
    be covered by the vehicle
    warranty.

    Multi-Band Antenna

The roof antenna is for OnStar,
    SiriusXMŪ Satellite Radio (US and
    Canada only), and GPS (Global
    Positioning System). Keep clear of
    obstructions for clear reception.
If the vehicle has a sunroof, and it is
    open, reception can also be
    affected.

I have my shark fin in my possession. Pics to follow. The folks at Visual Garage are/were great. Outstanding communication. I will check paint match and install this weekend...if I can wait that long.

How's the fit to the roof line? Some other people mentioned that it was not a perfect seal, and was lifting.

There is a slight dip in the roof about three inches or so in front of the base of the existing antenna mount. When you remove the staff and place the shark fin antenna over top of the existing base you just need to make sure the front of the shark fin antenna is just behind that dip in the roof so that the shark fin antenna has a complete level seal. I am not noticing any lifting or separation in the front of the shark fin antenna but then again i just installed it so I am not sure if the lifting comes with time or not. I know that I made it a point to mount the antenna just behind the dip in the roof so the seal of the antenna would be completely level around the entire antenna. The instructions that came with the antenna indicated to seat the front of the antenna an apply pressure for a minute and then seat the back of the antenna and apply pressure for another minute and that is what I did. I have been periodically checking the front of the antenna to see if there has been any lifting since I installed in on Saturday but so far there hasn't been. I did read that some people are seeing some lifting in the front. I plan on keeping an eye on it and if it starts I will update this thread.

    Re: Shark Fin Antenna (Update)

I ordered mine on 3/20 and got immediate confirmation. Received email on 3/28 with the shipping notification and received it on 3/31. Installed today (4/1). Color is slightly darker than the SRX due mainly to the amount of metal flake in the vehicle. The very slight color difference is NOT noticeable after installation.
