    Phone quality question

Just passed the 1-month anniversary of my 2010 Luxury collection SRX w/navi. I have a question for the group regarding phone quality.

I have a Blackberry Curve that sounded great via Bluetooth/handsfree in my previous car (Lexus gs350 w/mark levinson audio system). The sound in my SRX is not very good though.

Music sounds just fine be it radio, XM Sirius, or iPod. The phone however sounds very muddy. It sounds like there's way too much bass or there's a pillow in front of the speakers.

I am also having trouble with a consistent volume. There are times when I can't hear the caller at all so I have to turn up the volume. I can then hear fine but after a few words the caller volume is far too loud and I have to lower it again. Back and forth it goes!

I tried a controlled test with my wife on the phone where I asked her to talk at a consisten volume, first lower and then louder. Every test gave me the same poor performance.

OnStar phone is clear as a bell. The sound is crisp, easy to understand... as though the caller is in the back seat.

FYI I have ATT and the service signal is at max (5 bars) so that doesn't appear to be the problem.

Is anyone having a similar experience?

No problems here. As I'm sure you're already aware of, sound quality via the Bluetooth is dependent on the particular cellphone used. Seems your BB just isn't a good match with the SRX. I haven't experienced any of the issues you described. I have an LG enV Touch and the sound is crystal clear.

I have a Blackberry Curve and AT&T so the same set up as you and I have the same problem. I constantly have to push up the volume to hear a call and yes the whole sound is muddy. For the first month I had the SRX I had a cheap Motorola flip phone with bluetooth and had no problem. So I think our problem is with bluetooth on the Curve.

I have a Blackberry Curve 8320 with T-Mobile and have had no problems.

I just wish you could download the address book into the system. Bummer!!

    Re: Phone quality question

Don't know if this will help, but it can't hurt. Try deleting your BB from the SRX phone list and deleting the SRX from your phone's Bluetooth list. Do a hard reboot of your BB. That is, take the battery out while the phone is on. Next, re-pair it with your SRX.

Wow thanks everyone for the info. I'll try the delete/repair and if that doesnt work then it might be time to get an iPhone!

    Thanks again...

Nothing against the iPhone, but you do have many more options. That's not the only phone that works well with the SRX.
