Anyone drive the SRX Turbo yet?

Would like to hear your impressions of the turbo. There are none in my area yet to test drive. I love the SRX but the stock V6 is lacking for me and I also thought the tranny had some trouble finding the right gear. I've read that both those issues go away with the turbo but would like to hear feedback from some "real world" drivers.

Have you driven the 3.0L in "Sport" mode? The 3.0L has something called "Selective Ride Control", which changes the gear ratios, steering and suspension for a sportier feel. It's explained on page 8-34 of the manual. If you need a copy of the manual, Private Message me.

Just FYI, the Turbo requires Premium fuel.

Yes, I used the sport mode and it definitely improved the acceleration. When I get a test drive in the turbo, Steering and handling are great in the 3.0. I'll be in a much better position to compare and see if I feel it's worth $3K more.
I'd like a copy of the manual but the site won't let me PM you since I don't have "enough posts" or history. My email is srmiley@gmail.com.
    Thanks Sube

Re: Anyone drive the SRX Turbo yet?

Wish I could have been able to do the Turbo.

Coming off of a 306HP CTS I am really unhappy
with the acceleration on the 265HP SRX.

It feels as if the SRX struggles to accelerate.
Whereas I used to beat most cars from a traffic
light start, I can barely get the vehicle moving.

I read constant reviews about the lackluster
horsepower compared with the weight of the
vehicle, but I never imagined it would be this
    bad.

If I am sounding a bit too harsh, realize that
I stepped down on horsepower and into a
heavier vehicle. It's for that reason that
perhaps I notice it more than others.

Do you drive it in sport mode?

Re: Anyone drive the SRX Turbo yet?

Do you drive it in sport mode?
You know, everybody has been suggesting
that. I think someone here even tried explaining
    it to me.

I have so little time to play with this vehicle
and learn everything about it -- which is why
I ask questions here rather than consult the
    manual.

I have this idea in my head that "sport mode"
means I have to manually shift the vehicle with
paddles (a features some vehicles have). I know
nothing about driving a manual shift so I never
really cared to learn how to even use steering
    paddles.

So perhaps I have the wrong idea about this?

Is it a simple button I push? Will it dramatically
change the way the car accelerates?

Re: Anyone drive the SRX Turbo yet?

Its as simple as can be. When the shifter is in D, slide it over to the left but don't push up or down. This puts the car into "sport" mode and an S should appear next to the D on the DIC. It makes a world of difference in my STS-V and from what I have heard, also in the SRX. The car actually doesn't go into "manual" mode until you tap the shifter up or down to manually change the gears. If you do that, it will show an M and a number next to it in the DIC, letting you know what gear you are in. To get out of sport or manual mode, just slide the shifter back to the right.

    Bee -

Really appreciate the help with this.

Do I leave it in Sport Mode all the time or
just when I am stopped at a light and want
    nice, smooth fast acceleration?

I take it if I leave it in Sport Mode all the
time I am going to have to shift it sooner
or later and that's the one thing that scares
me as I have never done any kind of manual
    shifting in my life.

Re: Anyone drive the SRX Turbo yet?

I traded in my 01 BMW X5, and yes it had more oomph than the SRX has, but I gave up being first in line in traffic a long time ago, and after you get used to the SRX you really don't miss it at all. I do however drive the SRX in sport mode. Sport mode can be used two ways: 1. in D, move the shifter to the left (not up and down) and it changes the shift points for the transmission, and seems to give you more pep. 2. if you want to while in sport mode you can manually shift gears by pressing the gear shift up or down as the case may be. If you just want sport mode with no manual shifting just move it to the left while in D, and just drive.

To simplify everything, while in "D" move the shifter to the left. You'll see "Sport" displayed in the Driver Information Center (DIC) under the odometer reading. Leave it there. You don't have to do anything else. Only move the shifter back to the right if you want to take it out of Sport Mode or to shift into Park or Reverse.

The additional info posted by others refers to "Manual" Sport Mode, which you don't want.

Sport and DSC (Driver Shift Control- actually shifting in sport) also makes the suspension a little more taut.

Two suspension setting are available- Tour and Sport. Tour is in D normal, and Sport is when the vehicle is shifted into Sport or when using DSC (sportshift).
