    Glass Coat Simonizing....Worth it?

Just got into a 2010 SRX Lease.

At the time of signing I noticed that

Since this is a lease and I deal with
tree sap ruining my paint all the time
(my CTS had lots of faint spots on the
hood from sap), I thought it might be
a good idea to get the protection.

The car gets sprayed with a liquid
on the outside and inside -- including
    seats and carpeting.

If sap or bird crap ruins my paint job
I am covered. The Simonizing is supposed
    to protect it.

If I can't remove ink from the seats
or vomit from the carpet, then the
company will do it themselves even if
it means putting in new fabric.

$500 guarantees me 7 years protection
though my lease is for 3 years.

Think it is worth it or was I taken for
    a ride on this deal?

Personally speaking, I would never pay for those treatments...but that's just me. I tend to steer clear of any dealer add-on "protection" packages.

These are great programs to boost dealer profits. Customer benefit, not so much. The only package I've seen that may be worth considering is excess damage protection for leases that is offered by some leasing companies. When my son's Mazda6 was returned, the ~$500 of excess damage would have been waived. I don't remember what the price of the coverage was.

I tend to stay away from things like that. Besides this first thing I do with any new car is a good coat of Zaino.
