transmission module
Started with a dead battery, nothing left on or in the car, onstar sent a guy to jump the car, let it idle for 30 minutes, and would not go into gear...car is now at the dealership after it was towed and it is a bad transmission module - this was on day 58 of the 60 day money back offer - so what to do - keep the car, trade it or take the money....I don't want a car with problems

Re: transmission module
Ugh, that's a tough one. I think I'd probably let them have that one back, Sandy. Good luck.

Re: transmission module
Fix it, no guarantee another brand will be any different. Cars are Cars!
I've had problems with following...
1. Ipod disconnecting 10% of the time.
2. Memory seats not working correctly most of the time.
3. Battery has gone dead 2 times once was my fault.
4. Today I got message to have "Rear Axle" serviced.
3 months owning my car & I won't give it up for nothing.
I could care less if the axle falls out or the engine blows up.
I have 4 years warranty & everything can be fixed sooner or later.
My Doctor once told me that all illness is related to stress people put on themselves.
We need to learn to be concern about what's important in life & the car is NOT one of them!

Re: transmission module
Please post the results of the repair after you get the car back. This may be an issue only affecting a limited number of SRXs, or it could be a problem that will eventually surface in all of them. The only way we'll know is by getting feedback from all of those affected.
Things like this are not all that uncommon. I had the whole LED display go out on the climate control system of my last car (97 Mitsubishi Diamante) BEFORE I pulled off the dealer's lot. About a year later the transmission died. That was computer related, which caused mechanical problems within the trans. You should have seen the laundry list of parts they replaced. Repair costs (to them) were over two grand!!! Both were repaired under warranty. Neither problem ever occurred again. 13 years later that car is still running great and has been extremely reliable ever since.
The point I'm trying to make is this. One major repair is not always a sign of things to come. IMO it's premature to start thinking you have a lemon. Anything built by mankind is imperfect. If you just bought a new house and the furnace broke, would you consider selling the house? Of course not. No matter how stringent the quality control is, there are bound to be defects. This can happen with any car at any price point. Just talk to some Lamborghini or Ferrari owners. Those cars are largely built by hand. The last time I checked no person is as consistently reliable as a machine. So don't panic just yet. Now, if you have the "same" repair done multiple times and it's still giving you problems, then we'll revisit the issue. In the mean time, when you do get your car back try to relax and enjoy it.

Re: transmission module
Sandyfla,
Everyone is right. life is way to short to stress over a "THING". I do understand your position and it's warranted. But here's one that may surpirse you. We bought a 2001 Honda Accord EX and guess what one year later a whole brand new transmission. Problem, JAPANESE workers screwed up the angle on the gears in the transmission that baisucally grinded the teeth down. Trust me I'm from Michigan and stopped with GM and bought 3 Hondas since, but robotics are prevailent now in the factories and quality is up by a long shot.
