    Ipod

Using an Ipod Nano, 5th generation, in album mode it will only play back the songs in alphabetical order. Anyone else recognize this and does anyone have a solution. Would much prefer listening to the tracks in the order they were placed on the album.

I had found similar issues with the HDD.

On thumb drives, I've gotten around the alphabetical order problem by renaming all files to start with the track number (01, 02, 03...) and arranging all the files in folders. The folder structure I use is folders on the root that are artist names, then sub-folders under those that are the album names, then the files. That allows me to play the songs in the order they were placed on the album, when I choose "Folder/Playlist" from the menu.

A great example of why you'd want to listen to them in the order they were placed on the album is The Moody Blues' "Days of Future Passed" album. It makes no sense to listen to them out of order (both musically and lyrically).

On Ipods, the whole format seems to be proprietary, so I'm not sure you can control the folder structure or file names. That's one reason why I have only one Ipod, while I have several MP3 players and several thumbdrives. Maybe someone else who has more experience with Ipods can chime in on how to control the folder structure on those.

The only other problem I have is getting the system to recognize more than about 700-800 titles on a thumb drive, but that's another thread...
