Question Speed Sensitive Variable Assist worth it? - Luxury v/s Performance trim question

    Hi folks,

I cannot wait to trade in my Saturn SL2 for a new SRX. I am considering the Luxury trim with the add-on nav+backup camera option, however that brings me to the question of whether or not it is worth investing the additional $2000+ to get the Performance trim instead that also comes with the speed sensitive variable assist steering, the 20" wheels, fog lamps and upgraded headlamps.

I test drove the Audi Q5 and really liked the variable assist steering it has to offer but could not get a feel for it on my SRX test drive (part of the Cadillac of Crossovers event I attended) where we were restricted to internal city road driving only (no freeway). If the SRX has a similar steering, perhaps it is worth investing the $2K.

I will do another test drive at the dealer but wanted to reach out to see if anyone has an opinion or recommendation on whether the speed sensitive variable assist steering (vs the regular one) on the Luxury trim is worth the additional $2K investment?

    Thanks.

    Ron

I think u answered your own question.
With all u listed for only $2,000 is surely worth the upgrade!
The headlights alone are a $1,000 plus option for most cars.

The Performance package includes Nav and Camera plus the other items you listed. When buying a 40K car, another 2K does not make much difference. Get as many goodies as you can. You will have it for awhile.

I opted for the fwd perfomance trim because I wanted the lights and 20" wheels. You'll also get the sport suspension. That will change your ride. It is stiff. Give it a good test run over bunpy roads. Now, I wish I had the luxury ride. Could be a deal breaker.
