A question about a realliy wierd feature I've noticed on my SRX

I've got a 2010 luxury SRX. If I hold down the unlock button on the key fob for about 3 seconds, all the windows roll down. Does anyone know what use this is for? Also does anyone know how to make all the windows roll up? That would be more usefull to me than rolling them down. Thanks!

Yes, you have to get inside and roll them up the usual way. Many vehicles have had this feature for years; I guess it allows you to let hot air out of the car before getting in on a hot day.

Thanks. I didn't even know about it until my 19 month old daughter was playing with the fob and suddenly the windows rolled down!

I had a Lexus RX with this feature, except it opened the sunroof, too. That was helpful to get the heat out, but truthfully I hardly ever used it.

I have this feature on my '07 BMW X3. The sunroof opens as well. The reason that the windows don't roll up has to do with safety and liability concerns. It's nice to help cool off the car on a hot day. Cool to show your friends too.

Seems like remote start would take care of it?

Just remember if you drive off a bridge into a river, just hold the unlock button on the fobs to get all the windows to roll down!

Not true as my 2008 STS-4 will close all open windows, but not the sun roof, by holding the Lock button on the FOB down. I'll bet that his SRX will do that too.

Nope. They don't roll up with the fob.

That is weird, because my STS will also roll them up with the lock on the FOB. Maybe the lawyers did dream up some more BS.

On the NAV do you still have to acknowledge that you could be killed every time you start it? I understand some other car makes don't have that. GM must have the good lawyers.

I don't have NAV in my SRX, but on our Tahoe the "acknowledgement of death" notice comes on periodically...not every time you start the vehicle. Maybe one in six times or so.

That's a nice improvement. The STS is every dang time.
