Handling: very firm and sporty, I mean there's so many rumors about it's lack of power, I will highly suggest you test drive one before make any conclusion.
Brake: Very good.
Back-seat: Not very roomier, but acceptable for 6' guy like me.
1, The Bose is not as good as I expect, I try all the settings, it's just not that good.
2, Why they put a LED signal inside the car instead of on the mirrors?
Overal, I will be ordering one on Dec, I was told there'll be GM promo later.
I agree with most that you feel about your test drive. Audio I liked a lot.
I also drove a SRX with "Performance" package today & I'm hooked.
I ordered one @ my dealer @ launch on 7/7/09 & canceled after many delays.
My dealer has one in stock loaded as I want it & if all goes well? it's mine in couple days!
I test drove a loaded out new SRX the other day, and for the most part liked many of the features but also found it short on a few items in comparison to my 07. Most obvious is interior space behind the front seat, of course this new SRX has a little different target market (GM hopes larger) than the 1st generation. Even though in the short time I drove the new SRX (AWD) and the handling seemed good, I still would prefer that it was based on a rear wheel platform vs. the front drive one it’s on.
But what troubled me the most was the wind “thumping” at any speed above 40 mph with the sunroof open. Even though the new SRX ultra roof is large in terms of glass, it only opens up about the same as any car with a normal sunroof. I really like how my 07 SRX roof opens up huge so that even the second row seats have open air over them. In the summer I ride even on the freeway with huge sunroof opened all the way, we enjoy the open air and feel. But with the new SRX the thumping is very disturbing to me even at city driving speeds…the only way to get the noise down is to open a window a little bit. Disappointing that GM didn’t work on a better diffuser or other aerodynamic trick.
While I’m nick picking, I don’t get why any manufacture paints the bottom rocker panels and lower part of the front and rear bumpers flat black. To me this cheapens the way the vehicle looks; in my opinion they look better when painted body color as what seems to happen a few years in a production run.
Having said all that I would still highly recommend the new SRX to anyone looking for a luxury cross-over.
Good review, Tom. I have not noticed the "thump" from the open sunroof...yet. As for opening, it's obvious that the roof is not large enough for that much glass to slide back and open. I prefer RWD as well, but unfortunately that wasn't to be.
I went to my dealer today & bought fully loaded SRX Performance model.
"Imperial Blue" with Titanium/Ebony interior. Will post photos next week.
A lot of dealers are now adding extra to MSRP, I paid MSRP $47365.00.
Congrats, Barry. I hope you love it as much as I do mine. I know what you mean about pricing. One salesman told me "we're getting over window sticker on these." I replied not from me you aren't. I haven't seen the imperial blue yet so get those pics posted!
My local GMC Cadillac dealer is packing their Terrains $897,,(except for the stripped ones),they should have SRX's this coming week,,will be curious how they handle pricing on them as they are two months late getting them in, due to change of dealership by GM. By the Way, they had spec'd out 8 SRX's at the old dealership, and ordered them last spring and summer., and watched them being sent to other dealers as GM went about closing their dealership....a very pissed Sales Manager; but she is working for the new dealership across the street now!

Best of luck with your new ride too...post photos.
Far as over sticker I would NEVER and others shouldn't either.
No need to pay over just to be first on the block to have a new car.
Patience & few months later you'll get it for sticker or even much less!
