    Hey V-Eight,

I am glad you liked the SRX overall (except the transmission). I would like to say that although the transmission shifts strangely it is in a "learning" mode. The transmission actually learns your driving style based on how aggressive you are. Because of this when they are new they definitely make some strange shifts. I have been able to drive one that has miles on it and it definitely has improved the shift quality. Maybe your local dealer could fill you in on this even more, but when the SRX is new the shift quality is definitely not as good. Hope this may help.

I currently drive a 2008 STS-4 and plan on test driving this vehicle in the future. I bought my wife a 2009 Murano SL and I am more impressed with that vehicle than my STS so I don't have high hopes for the new designed SRX. One of the things that most impresses me about the Murano is its speed and the CVT (continuously variable transmission). The car drives so smoothly you can't detect any shifting what so ever!

That's because it doesn't really shift. The CVT is just belts and pullies, which is good for speed and smoothness, but awful for towing.

The Chevy Tahoe/Escalade hybrids use a CVT and have the same tow ratings as their regular versions. Although I really don't like the CVT/hybrid powertrain because there is a huge lag when you bury your foot into the gas pedal and the motor decides to give you full power. Its pretty quick once it gets the motor spinning, but it makes you look like a fool if you are trying to pass somebody.

I'll have to try and jump on the Murano to see what you say is true.

Probably because its basically a jacked up Altima wagon. The Altima was never designed to tow anything.

Towing is not an issue for the wife's Murano (aka grocery getter) or for me if I decide to go that route. Only a test drive will tell for sure!
