Went in for my first service ($81 for an oil change). I have been blessed with an SRX with minimal problems. But I was fishing around for things that might be wrong as long as I was going to the dealer. I read something (a TSR I think) about the rear windshield washer. I would have never thought to use it, but I tried before going in for service. Sure enough, no fluid came out. Service confirms there is a problem and has ordered the part. Thought others might have the same problem.
BTW Service manager says Cruise Control increase speed works fine, when I obviously have the problem of not being able to set CC at a higher speed when in CC. Will address when I go back for rear washer.
They will compare the way your CC works to other SRXes. They ll work the same so you will be told that it operates as it should.
From the price of your oil change I assume you have a V8. If you compare te way the CC opertes you will notice that it overreacts. For example if you are going 40 in CC and hit accelerate on the CC there is a hesitation then the engine surges, and is pretty racy for CC throttling. If you click to set when it hits 60, it will probably settle in at 57 or so. This is still fully functional but sloppy.
V6s don't do this (or so I am told). All other Cadillac models are much smoother (Have verified with my DTS, Escalade, STS and CTS.
The bottom line is that the V8 CC isn't matched up to properly to th engine. I suspect that the V6 CC module is also used on the V8. (I can't verify this because Cadillac parts will not give out part numbers). The module kicks in too much throttle for the V8 and just the right amount for the V6.
I could accept this on a Yugo. But not on a Cadillac. Remember, this isn't an SRX, it is a Cadillac. Check yours' out and see if it operates as I explained.
I wish others would complain instead of settling for a $20,000 solution on a $50,000 vehicle.
The very 1st problem I had with my SRX (haven't had many) was the rear washer.
I discovered BLUE on the rear latch, and discovered the hose had come loose inside the tailgate, and was spraying inside the panel! Fairly easy to remove the inside panel and re-attach.
Same problem here with rear washer. It didn't work from day one but it took a while for me to notice. Between that and the 2nd row center seatbelt locking up, it's been in the shop a total of 8 days since getting it 2 months ago. I've always heard about first model years being problematic but I thought the SRX borrowed heavily from the CTS and would fine. My only issue with these minor problems is that I worry about not finding out some things that may not be obvious (that's why these boards are good) and unknowingly putting up with minor things that degrades performance or comfort. Cadillac doesn't seem proactive in tracking these trends and notifying customers of the potential problem areas. Nor does Service seem to be proactive. The first time I took it in for the seatbelt problem they obviously didn't check the rear washing. However, when I took it in a month later, they weren't at all surprised that it didn't work and told me it was a common problem. Why didn't they check this when it was in previously? That would be great customer service. Understand that adds to their service burden but...it's less efficient for them to have a vehicle in for multiple service call also.
I can't even find where the fluid is supposed to come out. Where did you see the blue washer fluid? Where is the fluid supposed to come out so I can check the hose.

Since my rear washer isn't working, I'd like to see if this is the problem. Any hints/tips on removing the rear panel? Interestingly, my rear panel squeeked when I first bought the car so I took it into the dealer for repair. Now no squeeks, but I just noticed no rear washer either. Maybe they accidentally loosened the hose while they were fixing.
While I'm at it, dumb question: where do I refill the rear washer?
Also had the same problem with the rear windshield washer not working. Didn't even notice it until 4 months after purchase. Obviously, this seems to be a problem on many SRX's. Had it fixed approx 6 weeks ago and works just fine now.
