Question windshield washer doesn't work

I have a 2004 srx. My windshield washer makes the noise, but no fluid. The headlight washer still works. Does anyone have a clue on what is going on. Thanks

Re: windshield washer doesn't work

firstly, im giong to begin by presuming you have enough washer fluid.

disconnected hose...try opening the hood and checking the hoses running under the hood and into the cabin...that seems like the most logical explanation.

Re: windshield washer doesn't work

I had the exact same problem. I spent some time and cleaned out all my fluid lines going to the back and then lightly shot some compressed air through. Make sure you drain all the fluid in the reservoir before you do anything. You can get to the reservoir from within the passenger side wheel well behind the bumper. Just a few clips (use a flathead screwdriver).

In the back liftgate the hose is inside the plastic cover. There is a little black PLASTIC direction piece in there. For some reason (probably cheap fluid) it became all gunked up and blocked the final 18" of the hose before the motor.

I fixed the front washers by removing the under-hood sound dampener and disconnected the little sprayer, and sprayed some more compressed air through the hose.

Connected everything back up and all now works. I made sure to get the most expensive windshield wiper fluid I could find, all 3.99 of it. I was surprised that it took 2 big jugs and still had room in the reservoir.

If you have the headlamp washers that spray the headlamps (cleans on first wash and then on each 5th wash when the headlights are on) you will need the extra fluid capacity.

Re: windshield washer doesn't work

Thanks to all suggestions. The hose under the hood came loose. I appreciate it.
