    Question Dilemma: New/Demo

As I have a new loaded SRX on order (6-7 more weeks), dealer just called and advised they'll have a factory exec. car in 2 days with 4,000 miles for $5,000 less. Same equipment except black instead of Blue Chip and UltraView Plus rather than just UltraView. (Caddy site doesn't even list UltraView Plus anymore)

I'm TORN! What would you do?

I'd probably go in and see the car they're offering you but it'd be tough to convince me. I just prefer getting a brand new car...

Oh, for sure, I'll look at it first. Should be in Friday.

I would prefer new also, but that 5 grand would be nice too.

Just read somewhere here that someone was told 6 weeks for their order and it came in 3 weeks.

Right. That's why it's worth at least a look. Just don't buy on impulse... If the long wait is influencing your decision keep in mind that I was told it'd take 6 weeks to build mine and it took exactly 3... Just another thing to consider - are they pushing the demo on you because the SRX sales have yet to go as projected and they'd like to have one off of their lot? Once you see it go with what your mind tells you.

Isn't there a safety issue with the Ultraview Plus and that's why it's no longer offered?

Saw the "factory executive" SRX today. 2 scratches, cut visor, pulled out strap in rear, no DVD for NAV (they will order), no hitch, no chrome roof rails, 4800 miles, AND----sticker in glove box that stated something about it having gone through the GM proving grounds! They want $49k--no less.

I took a pass. I'll wait for the SRX I ordered.

By the sound of it you made the right call. I'd certainly have done the same. In this case, the wait will be well worth it.

Looks like you made the right call in this case, but Demos are not a bad thing typically. In fact, my car was a demo, im now the second owner and other than a bad differential I havent had a single problem with it. Unlike Cadillac however, BMW provides an additional 5000 mile extended warranty for Demo cars automatically, which takes me to 55000 miles.

    Re: Dilemma: New/Demo

Forgot to add, for $1,000 more, I could have 100,000 warranty. Told me that's roughly 25% of normal cost. I'm not big on extra warranties for a price. Generally, they're a rip-off; unless, of course, you've got a fragile product. I "bit" for it on my laptop.
