Question 2005 SRX Air Filter

Remove this ad
The air filter (factory original) in my 2005 SRX is Delco Part Number A2029C. When I cross reference this part on the DELCO web site, it is for the CTS -- not SRX. According to my dealer, the air filter for my vehicle should be Delco Part Number A2944C -- not A2029C. Does anyone have any insight into this situation? I called Cadillac and was referred to my dealer -- see dealer response above.

Re: 2005 SRX Air Filter

Looked up WIX and did AC Cross Reference
Air Filter 42864 V6 3.6L 217 CID 7 Engine

Cross Reference for WIX CORPORATION 42864
FUEL / FILTER-AIR
A2944C ELEMENT, A/CL

Re: 2005 SRX Air Filter

That is what I found as well. However, my 2005 SRX (V6 AWD) has a different air filter. Part number A2029C was installed at the factory instead of A2944C. My concern is -- what else might be different and why.

Re: 2005 SRX Air Filter

May be one of those unanswered sweet mysteries of life..... suggest checking the sealing surfaces of the A2029C filter to see if it was leaking dirt. If not, put in the correct filter. There may be a parts house that has both so you can physically look for comparison. Both are for a 3.6l application so should flow OK in either case. GM does change applications. For example the original oil filter for my 03 Envoy called for PF58 but later changed to PF61. Sparks plugs were platitum are now iridium.

Re: 2005 SRX Air Filter

I picked up an air filter for my '05 V6 from AutoZone. Brought it home, guess what, it was for a CTS. Returned it and got the right one from the dealer, which is where I'll get it from now on.

Just a follow-up re the air filters. The following from WIX and the dimensions are different. Possibly GM changed the filter box?

Re: 2005 SRX Air Filter

Better than that, I have an 05 SRX V6. I pulled the fuse cover under the hood, and it says CTS.
