The rear liftgate on the SRX rusted out below the handle so I picked a replacement liftgate up and am going to paint it. I removed the housing that contains the backup lights and license plate lights; one of the light enclosures was full of water. It looks like they are glued in. I would like to remove them so that I can properly seal the lights before painting. Anyone have a suggestion on how to remove the enclosures?
From what I remember you have to remove the inside trim panel from the lift gate and access them from the inside. Once you remove the panel, it should be fairly obvious.
I do not think the lenses themselves can be replaced, the probably are glued in but, since you have the old one and you can replace it, try using a heat gun around the edges of the lens to loosen any glue if any? But start out at temperature like 80 degrees. I know that does not sound like much but the SM says about that temperature to remove the upper panels on the roof, better to rise the temp if needed then too hot and melt or warp.
I do not see any lens that can be bought individually
