Talking SRX featured in Mother's Wax video ad w/ Chip Foose!!!

Remove this ad
A very hot Cadillac SRXis in a TV commercial playing during several shows, including the Mothers Car Show on ESPN, and Rides and Overhaulin' on TLC, just to name a few.

In the commercial, Chip is using Mothers® PowerMetal™ polish with the PowerBall™ on the Cadillac SRX's custom billet Foose wheels. He then wipes the surface clean with a blue microfiber towel.

You can see the commercial again here: http://www.motherspowerball.com/

You'll want to be sure you are polishing metal before you use PowerMetal™ (or any metal polish) -- you may have clearcoated or painted wheels, in which case a product like our Clearcoat Wheel Polish or Plastic Polish would be in order. If you're not sure, check with your dealer and/or your owner's handbook (or get back to us and we'll try to find out for you).

There is only one PowerBall™, and Chip is using it in this testimonial commercial.

By the way, the cars in the commercial were both from shows featuring Chip. The Cadillac SRX was seen being built during an episode of Rides, in which he also built a custom XLR. The Chevelle was built during an episode of Overhaulin' that was shot at Mothers® in Huntington Beach.

Love the paint job on that SRX!

Re: SRX featured in Mother's Wax video ad w/ Chip Foose!!!

That commercial is SO OLD...it's been around forever.

There was actually a whole special on a couple of years ago when the SRX and XLR just came out (as '04s) and Cadillac gave him one of each to "work on".

He refined the front and rear fascias of each a bit (beveling off a few edges, adding circular foglamps to the SRX, etc.) and both did look better in the end from a purely stylized point of view. The XLR was black with a custom made aluminum roof panel, and then the SRX was that red/orange combo you see in the commercial.

I'm not sure where the XLR end up, but he really did keep the SRX and used it at least for a little bit (like stated in the commercial).

Actually, here's the XLR:

and the SRX:

This is the only thing I've seen from Chip that I didn't like.
Thought at the time I first saw it that he was working for Dodge, Ford or MB.
Then I thought maybe the stock SRX really is as good as it gets in the styling department and he had little to offer.
If given the choice between a stock SRX and a Chip version, without knowing which was which, I'd take the stock model every time.
Round fogs are everywhere and Chip's high paint belt line makes the SRX look like the fat lady in a circus.
He could really have had a "Chip" masterpiece of painting design with the tall side panels.
I really expected much better from Chip ......
Anyway, c5rv I agree with you! ..

Re: SRX featured in Mother's Wax video ad w/ Chip Foose!!!

Tough crowd!

Not too many modded SRX's out there. No mention of it here, so I thought I'd post it up. Agree with you on the colors, but figured Mother's asked him to do the red to match their bottle. The work around the sides of the car was impressive though. All it needs is a color change!

I'm normally against two tone cars, but ever since I'd seen GM's Ski concept SRX, I've thought a two tone version (darker at the bottom) would work.

Anyhoo, this commercial is being run constantly and was being discussed in chatrooms all over. Still is!
