The Cadillac SRX ...
Yea ive seen that before. For about 11000.00 more you could purchase a base Range Rover, OR for the same money or less you could jump into an ESCALADE (which id much rather own). Certainly Cad plans on selling more of the lesser optioned V6 models in this vehicle,or at least it would seem that way. I think Cadillac is still coming to terms with their pricing strategies and marketing and they just need some time to figure it all out. Customer demand will be the eventual determining factor on where the prices end up on alot of their new vehicles.
That's competitive and in line with other vehicles in this class. Comparatively, the SRX also has better performance and more features available than most of them. Start expecting higher prices for the new Cadillacs as they move upscale.
I think the base price at $38K is OK. However, the requirement to get the $42K 1sb in addition to the AWD and the $8.5K jump over base to get into a V8 are excessive, both in dollars and percentage of base price. The spread from base to fully optioned SRX is about 22K or 58% of base price. On the CTS (non-V) the spread is about $13K or 42% of the $31K base price.
I can see where Caddy is getting their pricing model. The BMW X5 starts at $41K and tops out at about $64K, a $23K and 56% spread.
