Complete Overhaul of SRX?

Remove this ad
Has anyone tried to do a complete ground-up performance build of an SRX? I'm considering doing something like an LS2 or an LS7, and custom building suspension/brakes as well as trying to fit a richmond t56 or something similar...maybe even forced induction if it gets that wild. Not sure if the 4.4 northstar is in the budget or even what i'm looking for. I know this would require a ton of fabrication, something that I can take care of, but has anything been tried before? How strong is the stock tranny? Is there significant difference between the v6 and v8 models as far as suspension/drivetrain goes? I'd plan to do a RWD model, seems like much less hassle, but this is in the very early stages of planning. Sorta stemmed off from an idea to drop the t56 in the trailblazer ss, but this just seems much more fun. Anyone with suggestions or any other pertainent info can stop by and comment.

Re: Complete Overhaul of SRX?

You would probably need to strengthen the front frame/lower cowl area as cadillac had to do wtih the CTS-V.
The second question would be whether the rear end and rear cradle could handle the power.
Wheel hop due to flex is a prob with the CTS-V.
The transmissions in the V6 and V8 have different torque ratings.
I am doubtful either 5 speed could handle it do to the fact that the new 6 speed auto is in the STS-V and the XLR-v.
Nobody knows if the new 6 speed auto will fit in the transmission tunnel of the SRX. I am guessing it will since it is actually closer to a STS than a CTS.
Although it has a CTS interior, it has the STS's wheelbase.
