New to the forum and didn't see a thread for this. I have a 2006 SRX I just purchased. The glove box latch broke and I can't open the door. Any help of how to open without damaging?
Searched but not had much luck. I just picked up a parts car though. If I have some time I might take the give box out and study it for clues. In the end, if y'all end up destroying yours getting it open, I know a guy with a spare now! ?
I've had the same thing happen recently on my 2004, but as I also have a dying trans and a faulty injector and/or PCM...I'm not too bothered by the glove box.
The wood finished lid above the glove compartment in my car seems to have come apart. When I purchased the car the owners manual was stored there but when I lifted the lid I found that it is basically just sitting in place and the hinge on the left side is either broken or missing. Am I right in thinking that the square piece to the left is a push button release for the right hand part as it is sprung loaded. Anyone know where to find drawings of this assembly?
bbc0 your are correct. Pushing on that square button releases the compartment to the right on the 07. Several years ago there were multiple postings on fixing the door spring used on that compartment. Maybe there's some info in one of those postings on removal.
Edit: check out Dash panel storage box broke
however lots of info using "secret compartment" as search term.
"secret compartment" isn't an official name. I just recall it being called that.
