I removed the front timing cover, what a pain, the timing chains are still tight it shows no sign of jumping time, the gears are good. I did find on the left side a timing chain aluminum guide or follower that is flopping around. I will check the crank and see what happens. I think a good used engine is in order. I wish I could find someone who could give me step by step instructions on how to pull the cradle and change it. I have a family member who is really good in changing engines, but he could use the diagrams.
Dug a little deeper into the 4.6 Northstar. The crank is turning. Tried the compression test again, no compression from any cylinder. I even tried oil in the cylinders but no compression. Is it possible that all the valves are bent? Maybe I should replace this engine with a good used one and move on. It only has 114,000 miles. What would cause this engine to have no compression?
Does anyone know if the engine can be removed from the top?
