I have a 2005 SRX V8 AWD with a misfire code. I took it to the dealership twice now and they changed the spark plugs, coil and injectors but the engine still has a slight shake to it while idle. The advisor told me it was carbon buildup and to buy lucus deep clean fuel system cleaner. I ran it through but the engine still has the slight shake. Is there anything else I can do?
They told me at the dealership that they ran a compression test but didn't tell me the details about the results. I assume they were okay since they didn't tell me that they were bad. The misfire is coming out of cylinder 4.
I apologize that you are experiencing these concerns with your SRX. I do see that you are currently working with a Cadillac dealership. If you would like any assistance in working with them, please feel free to private message or send me an email to socialmedia@gm.com with “ATTN GREG” in the subject line so that it gets delivered straight to me. I would need your name, contact info, VIN, mileage, and dealership that you are currently working with. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post. I hope to hear from you soon.
I was looking for DTC#s. 1 can of cleaner won't do much, you need to double dose it (read instructions for qty./gals) and do that for several tankfuls. Read the 'Full throttle' piece in the tech archive that is in the forum header.
I can understand that its frustrating to have the misfire issue but I don't believe it is an issue that would warrant the replacement of the SRX.
Are you getting spark to that plug?
Are you getting fuel to that cylinder?
Are you getting air to that cylinder?
OK Chief, what specific code(s) do you have now? Then we can be more helpful.
