    PCV Smell in the Cabin

My '04 V6 has a strong odor of PCV smell when I'm sitting at a stoplight. When I pop the hood, I can smell it, but I cannot pinpoint where it is coming from. Any ideas on where I should begin looking?

Pull off the engine cover and check both lines, clean and dirty.

Re: PCV Smell in the Cabin

I pulled the cover. The smell appears to be an oil (?) leak from behind the alternator. "Behind" meaning on the engine, not towards the rear of the vehicle. I can't see where it's coming from, but what is behind there that would leak? Head gasket? The seal on the small cover that is too small to be a valve cover looks good, so the source has to be below that. It's slowly making its way down to the exhaust and causing my odor. I may have to pull that alternator to get a look at what needs to be replaced. Any ideas?

    PS pump or valvecover gasket.
